This from My Sister's House...
I recently spoke with the Director of
My Sister’s House, Crystal Chrisman-Jones, and she informed
me of a few ongoing fundraisers that the shelter benefits
from. I thought I would pass them along to the community.
Empty inkjet cartridges from your
printers are accepted at the shelter office and redeemed for
a cash donation. This is a wonderful program that has two
benefits: 1) it provides an additional avenue for
fundraising and 2) it helps the environment by not having
the cartridges end up in land-fills.
The shelter office also collects
grocery receipts from Community Market (formerly Ev’s). For
every receipt redeemed by the domestic violence program, the
company donates a percentage back to the shelter.
Someone had an idea; unfortunately I
can not take credit for this one, donate gift cards. When
you are shopping at local businesses that offer either
products or services, ask if they have gift certificates or
cards. If they do, purchase one and donate it at the shelter
office. What a wonderful way to provide something that can
make someone feel better about them or allow them the choice
of purchasing something they specifically want or need.
As always, the program is in need of
funds to help pay for the ongoing day to day expenses. It
costs approximately $166.00 per day to keep the shelter in
operation and provide ongoing programs for families in need.
Any amount of donation you can spare is
tax- deductible and greatly appreciated. The communities
support of and involvement with My Sister’s House Domestic
Violence Program has been amazing and stellar. We couldn’t
make it without your help!
